1. Increase the number of eggs collected
The number of eggs collected each day is too small, and it is easy to cause mutual collision in the egg collection tank, and the breakage rate increases. Collected twice a day, the breakage rate is 5.0-5.5%; collecting three times a day can reduce the breakage rate to 0.75-1.00%. Large groups of laying hens collect at least 4-5 times a day.
2. Reduce stress
Stimuli of stress factors, such as noise, sudden bright light, vaccination, nocturnal rodents, strangers entering the house, sudden replacement of feed, etc., cause stress responses in chickens, thereby affecting the absorption and utilization of nutrients by the intestines, shortening eggs The residence time in the uterus or the endocrine disorder causes the eggshell to form abnormally, with malformed eggs, shell eggs, soft shell eggs, and shellless eggs. Minimize or avoid stress in daily management. The replacement of feeds should be carried out gradually, the staff should not change them frequently, and should be responsible and scientific in feeding management.
Third, the genetic performance
Eggshell quality is related to heredity. Under the same husbandry and management conditions, hens with good genetic performance can use calcium better than genetically poor ones, making the eggshell thicker. Brown shell eggs generally have higher egg shell strength than white shell eggs. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of egg shells, we must pay attention to the choice of chicken breeds.
Four, cage design, installation
The slope at the bottom of the cage should be reasonable. When it is too small, the eggs are not easy to roll out or roll too slowly, and they are easily broken or broken by the chicken. If the size is too large, the rolling is easy to break. For larger slopes, a certain amount of cushioning material can be installed in the egg collecting tank. V. Diseases and medications
Many diseases can cause eggshell quality to decline, with soft-shelled eggs, thin-shelled eggs, or even shellless eggs. Such as atypical Newcastle disease, infectious bronchitis, egg drop syndrome, chronic gastrointestinal diseases, bird flu, reproductive tract infection, oophoritis.
Special attention should be paid to the use of sulfonamides and furans (prohibited) during laying. It is advisable to use other antibiotics instead of sulfonamides in the treatment of diseases during the laying period. Laying chickens that drink too much disinfectant with bleach or other chlorine-containing disinfectants also affect eggshell quality. Therefore, when using chlorine-containing disinfectants to kill viruses and bacteria in the water, the available chlorine content should be 3-5 ppm.
