The research team of Shanghai Jiaotong University has made significant progress in mouse cerebrovascular imaging. They used new techniques to observe tens of micrometers of blood vessels in mice. Not long ago, many world media such as the world famous science magazine "Nature" magazine interviewed the research backbone of the team.
It is understood that existing clinical medical imaging equipment cannot clearly show living microvessels with a diameter below 200 microns. Early lesions of some major diseases, such as cerebrovascular disease, tumors often occur in microvessels below this order of magnitude. Microvascular imaging is a major problem affecting the early diagnosis and treatment of current diseases. In order to overcome this problem, the Med-X Research Institute of Shanghai Jiaotong University has established a synchrotron radiation X-ray medical imaging team joined by scientific research personnel in the fields of physics, biomedical engineering, neurobiology, oncology, and cardiovascular disease. . The team is collaborating with the Shanghai Light Source Biomedical Imaging Line Station to develop an internationally advanced synchronous medical imaging research center to develop innovative synchrotron imaging methods that challenge the limits of living microvascular medical imaging.
According to relevant experts, quantitative phase contrast imaging, real-time two-color subtraction imaging and microscopic fluorescence CT can be developed by means of the high-radiation, coherence, monochromaticity, wide energy range and continuous adjustment of the third-generation synchrotron radiation. The high-resolution imaging technique provides a dynamic imaging of the microvessels and their pathological processes, providing a new way to find and develop more effective diagnostic and therapeutic methods.
