Patient Zhang, male, 62 years old. She was living in Qindu District of Xianyang City. On April 23, 2017, she suffered from discontinuous fever and cough for 5 days. She was admitted to the Department of Respiratory Medicine at the First Hospital of Xianyang City. On April 25, she was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of the Second Affiliated Hospital of the Second Affiliated Hospital for admission diagnosis. Severe pneumonia, respiratory failure, acute myocardial ischemia, coronary heart disease, arrhythmia, hypertension, etc. The patient's condition progressed during the course of treatment. On April 30th, it was sent to the Second Affiliated Hospital for sampling and sent to Xi'an and Shaanxi Province CDC for testing. The results showed that the nucleic acid of H7N9 virus was positive. At 12:00 on May 1, the patient died of multiple organ failure.
At 8:00 on May 3rd, the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NDRC) received a review report from the laboratory to confirm that the biological specimen of the death patient was positive for the H7N9 virus nucleic acid. This case was diagnosed as the first case of H7N9 in Shaanxi Province.
