Unexpected use of fungi - treating cancer

US researchers announced on Sunday that new drugs developed using nanotechnology and a fungus that had been contaminated with laboratory tests may have broad effects on a range of cancers .
The drug, called lodamin, was improved in an experiment after cancer expert Judah Folkman was born. Folkman is the person who proposes to treat cancer with angiogenesis therapy. Angiogenesis therapy refers to cutting off the blood supply and starving the tumor cells to stop growing.
Lodamin is the result of 20 years of research by Volkmann and his team. His colleagues wrote in Nature Biotechnology that they have developed this angiogenesis suppressor tablet without side effects.
After testing with mice, it was found that lodamin is effective against many tumors, including breast cancer, neuroblastic cancer, uterine cancer, prostate cancer, and brain cancer. Lodamin can help inhibit the formation of early tumors and prevent the spread of tumor cells.
"Clear visible liver"
"When I looked at the test group, their livers were almost clearly visible, but you couldn't find the liver of the control mice. They were all covered with tumors."
Lodamin directly enters tumor cells , suppresses the development of melanoma and lung cancer, and has no obvious side effects.
The researchers said that mice that were not injected with lodamin had been living on a food-feeding diet. Their livers were swollen due to tumor growth, while the liver and spleen of the rats taking the drugs were normal.
After 20 days of the experiment, 7 rats who did not take the drug died, and all the rats in the test group survived.
