A poor arowana's health status indicates that the environment in which it lives is problematic. However, how to avoid this phenomenon and make Arowana healthy and lively requires attention to the following situations:

(A) fish tank location

Arowana is sometimes more neurotic. When people go in and out frequently, or when children pat the aquarium, they can affect the mood of the arowana. They may even be frightened and affect eating.

(b) Understanding water quality

Fresh water is divided into hard water and soft water, domestic tap water is soft water, and the water quality is neutral (ph value 7 is neutral), but depending on the area, it may be weak acid or weak alkaline. Well water and spring water contain more minerals, such as oxides, sodium bicarbonate, sulfides, etc., so that the water content of calcium and magnesium dissolved in water, called hard water. In general, freshwater fish prefer the soft water environment. Although tap water is soft water, it is purified and sterilized. The chlorine and other harmful heavy metals in the water will not directly injure humans and animals, causing damage to Arowana even death. Although hard water does not affect Arowana, it is not known whether the water is soft or hard water, and the sudden change of water quality will cause Arowana not to adapt and die in a short time.

(III) Water Quality Management

To keep arowanas in fresh tap water, you must remove the chlorine from the water before using them. There are two removal methods:
1. Store the tap water container for 24-48 hours so that the natural aeration disappears.
2. To change the water in a short time, you need to use fresh tap water. Add sodium hypo-sulphide (hypo), commonly known as the sea wave, and add about 10 liters of seawater.
The conversion of hard water to soft water: The hard water is boiled or exchanged with a resin filter. The hard water is filtered and converted into soft water.

(d) Water quality testing

1, ph value measurement method:
Litmus paper: Put one end of the test paper into the test water, take it out and change it according to its color. Compare the ph value color chart to know the ph value. However, because it needs to be compared with the naked eye, and the color changes with time when it is slightly longer, it is less accurate and the error value is large, but it is the most economical.
Ph test agent: There are two test agents, one is phi, and the test range is fh4.8-7.5. - For ph ii, the test method is to take a few cc test water and place it on a graduated transparent gauge. Drop an appropriate amount of the test agent and gently shake it, which will produce a color change. Compared with the color chart, the ph value can be judged. According to the test agent, the pH value is relatively stable, so it is more accurate than the litmus paper.
Electronic ph tester: Place the sensing end of the tester in the test water and gently shake it down to read the ph value from the display screen. An electronic ph measurer reads one decimal place, is accurate and fast but is expensive.

2, ph value adjustment method:
Ph adjustment stone: the stone is divided into 6.5, 7.0, 7.5, 8.2 four, arowana adapted ph value of 7.0 up and down, so only need to use a ph 7, put it into the filter tank, or near the outlet, then Can adjust and stabilize at ph7.0, adjust the water value ph fast and obvious.
Ph increase and decrease agent: divided into powder and liquid two kinds, according to the desired ph value of the amount of increased ph agent, or reduce ph agent, to achieve the desired ph value.
Soda water: can be divided into:
1, Phosphate soda, can reduce the ph value.
2, re-carbonated soda, can increase the ph value.
In the above 3, 4 items, when adjusting the ph value, it is important to remember that the ph value cannot be changed drastically and it must be adjusted slowly so that the arowana does not adapt.
2, soft and hard water test:
Generally hard water can be divided into calcium carbonate hard water (kh) degrees from 3 degrees to 5 degrees, magnesium, calcium hard water (dh) degrees from 2 degrees to 8 degrees.
Hard water hardness can be used to determine the reagent, remove the appropriate amount of test water, drop the right amount of reagent to determine the hard water value.
Simple test of soft and hard water quality can be tested with soap. Dissolve the soap in water and stir it by hand to make it foam. If it is not foaming, it means that the hardness is too high, and then the hardness is broken by the foam, the hardness is judged, and the hardness is not broken. That is soft water.
4. Tests of alanine (no2), nitrate (no3), and ammonia (nh3), three kinds of chemicals such as azinoc acid, nitrate, and ammonia are chemicals that are deteriorating in water quality. Early detection can be used as a preventive measure to avoid damage to arowana. .
The test is based on the reagent reading its content, the higher the quality of the water, which means that the deterioration of the water quality, the only way to reduce the diligence is to change the water.

(five) change the water way

Any fish, like clean water. However, the water changing mode should be correct. The normal water changing frequency is 5 to 7 days in summer, one for changing the water, and changing water for one to one fifth in the winter for 10 to 5 days. The maximum amount cannot exceed one third of the water. However, if you have any of the following conditions, you must change the water and clean the tank.
1. Arowana swimming posture is not normal: floating head, side tour, shortness of breath, sinking, and eyes sluggish.
2. Water quality deteriorates, showing white turbidity, stench and viscous (demonstrating the bursting time of bubbles). When the water quality is good, the bubbles will instantly burst. The deterioration of water quality is mainly due to the failure to change the water for a long time, or the death of excreta and live baits that have not been eaten. This causes bacteria to grow, resulting in deterioration of water quality due to the high content of nitrous acid, ammonia and nitrogen in the water.
3, fish seedlings suffering from infectious diseases, or parasites.
All water changes must pay attention to water quality and water temperature. In addition to adding seawater or water stabilizers, and adding appropriate amount of coarse salt, water can be substituted with salt or artificial seawater if there is no coarse salt.

(6) Cleaning the fish tank

To clean the fish tank, you must first prepare a container, pump the water from the tank into the container and pump it up (in the winter, pay attention to the temperature of the container). Then remove the fish from the fish tank and place eight containers. Cover it to prevent the arowana from jumping out. Start cleaning the fish tank.
When clearing the cylinder, if there is no substrate, the water can be pumped out first, the cylinder wall of the cylinder bottom can be cleaned, and then the water can be injected. If there is a substrate, the substrate must be taken out first, cleaned repeatedly with clean water, and the filter wave plate is also cleaned. After all the cleaning is completed, refill the water. If the water temperature is not enough, the household water heater can be used to add water to the aquarium when the water is injected. Water injection or water stabilizer can be added at the same time when water is injected.
When the water level of the water tank is full, the temperature of the water should be adjusted to be equal to the temperature of the container of the loaded fish, and the air pump and the filter should be started to cycle, and then the fish fry can be placed in the water tank.
If fish tanks with infectious diseases are to be sterilized, they can be sterilized with methyl proline, copper sulphate, potassium manganate or hot water at a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius or more.
Because the arowana is not easy to get along with other arowanas, most of them are raised in pairs or in pairs. The landscape is slightly monotonous and can be paired with a gentle and unbreakable fish in the middle and lower waters, such as Thai whale, golden pineapple, gongyu and duck billfish.
