Strengthen Management to Prevent Grape Seedlings from "Fake Death"

The phenomenon of “dead death” of grape seedlings means that grape seedlings do not grow, germinate, and have no growth in a short time, but the branches themselves are soft and green, and there is no dryness. Grape seedlings "dead" will affect the production of grapes in the next year or even the following year. Therefore, the management of grape seedlings must be strengthened and timely remediation should be implemented.

Temperate grapes are exposed in open field, and the temperature requirements are different at each stage of growth. When the average temperature in early spring reaches 10°C, the grapes begin to sprout. As the temperature rises, the sprouted shoots accelerate growth. The optimum temperature for shoot growth and flower bud differentiation is 25°C to 38°C. When the temperature reaches around 25°C, the grapes can take root. Therefore, it is necessary to provide a suitable temperature for the growth of the grapes to ensure that the roots of the grapes survive at the same time.

The light grape is a light plant, which has a higher requirement for light, and the length of the light has a great influence on the growth and development of the grape. When there is not enough light, the shoots grow thin, the leaves are thin, and the leaves are light. Therefore, we must promptly improve the wind and light conditions of the rack.

Moisture water plays an important role in the life activities of grapes. Nutrients are dissolved in water and transported to various organs. If the soil is too arid, it is difficult for the roots to absorb water and nutrients from the soil, and photosynthesis is weakened; however, too much water is not conducive to the growth of the grapes, causing root suffocation, unsatisfactory shoots, poor flower bud differentiation, and even plant death. Grapes have different water requirements at different times. In the early spring, germination, shoot growth, and young fruit expansion require adequate water supply.

The adaptability of soil grape to soil is strong. In addition to the suitable growth of marshland and heavy saline-alkali soil, all other types of soil can be cultivated, and fertile sandy loam soil is most suitable. Different soils have different effects on grape growth and quality.
