Plant morphology
Herbs perennial, up to 1m, with white hairs throughout. Short rhizomes, often 1 or several root buds (overwintering buds).
Stems erect, puberulent and glandular hairy. Pinnate leaves alternate, leaflets vary in size, arranged in intervals, oval to obovoid, 2.5 to 7 cm long, 1.5 to 3.5 cm wide, margins serrate, both surfaces are pilose; stipules subovoid.
Racemes terminal; flowers calyx conic, 5-lobed, lobes basally with many hooked bristles, persistent; petals 5, yellow; stamens 5–15; ovary half inferior, styles prominent.
The pods thicken as fruit ripens, sag, with a vertical barb at the top and a deeper longitudinal groove. Like the crane's head, it is called Agrimony. Flower and fruit period from May to December.
