Jiangdong Tian, a well-known large agricultural machinery manufacturer based in Dandong, has earned the reputation of being a "farmer fan" and "soil expert" among local farmers. While maintaining a strong focus on providing high-quality farming services, he is also deeply passionate about developing specialized tools tailored for regional agriculture. Over the years, he has successfully designed and manufactured several practical tools, including fruit tree lifting machines, rooters, Chinese medicinal herb diggers, rakes, and deep pine plows. These innovations have not only gained popularity among local growers but have also expanded his own range of agricultural services, leading to significant economic benefits.
This year, Jiangdong focused on repurposing old machine tools to create a device capable of cutting, crushing, and returning wild grasses that are difficult to process with traditional machinery. After more than a month of trial and error, he finally succeeded in developing a simple yet effective weed smashing and returning machine.
The machine is powered by a small four-wheel tractor equipped with a central drive shaft. An old machine tool frame serves as the base structure, with two wheels mounted on either side. A vertical drive shaft at the rear carries five cutting knives. As the drive shaft rotates, it powers the knives to cut, crush, and return weeds directly into the field. This innovative approach not only addresses the challenge of weeding but also enhances soil fertility and biological efficiency, making it a multi-functional tool.
Local agricultural authorities and extension station technicians were impressed after witnessing the machine in action. One farmer shared, “This machine has solved my problem. A few days ago, my son asked some classmates to help weed, but now I can just use this machine and try it out.â€
In response to feedback from local agricultural technicians, three improvements were suggested: adding a protective cover for safety, optimizing the connection between the cutter shaft and the bearing, and adjusting the blade arrangement to increase the number of blades for better performance. These suggestions reflect the ongoing efforts to refine and enhance the machine’s functionality.
