Syringa flower seed harvesting preservation

Sulfur Chrysanthemum, also known as Yellow Cosmos or Huang Qiuying, belongs to the Asteraceae family and is commonly referred to as the autumn flower. Native to Brazil and Mexico, this annual herb can grow up to 1–2 meters tall. The plant produces achenes within its flower heads, which are long and spindle-shaped, measuring about 1.4 cm in length. These seeds are brown, hairy, and typically mature between August and October. For seed collection, the flower heads are harvested, usually from September to October. Once collected, they are dried and stored in a cool, dry place. It's important to clean and mix the seeds properly before further processing. When grading the seeds, it's essential to ensure purity, proper moisture levels, and no contamination. The first-grade seeds should have a germination rate of at least 95%, second-grade at least 90%, and third-grade at least 85%. Seeds with a germination rate below 10% of the standard are not suitable for use. Packaging is done using moisture-proof inner bags and printed outer bags. Care must be taken to avoid mixing different seed grades during handling. For wholesale, each package contains 300–500 grams, while retail packages range from 0.1 to 0.2 grams. Storage conditions should be dry, dark, and well-ventilated, with temperatures between 5°C and 7°C. Under these conditions, the seeds can remain viable for up to one year without affecting their germination potential. Sulfur Chrysanthemum is a striking ornamental plant with vibrant yellow flowers and green foliage. It is widely used in gardens and can also be cultivated for cut flowers. Its bright colors make it a popular choice for both landscaping and floral arrangements. For optimal growth, it's recommended to start seedlings from March to May. Due to its popularity, it's advisable to order seeds in advance to ensure availability. This flowering plant is not only visually appealing but also easy to cultivate, making it a favorite among gardeners and horticulturists.
