Crayfish breeding method

Lobster farming requires careful attention to several key factors to ensure optimal growth and productivity. The first step is to create a suitable environment for the lobsters. As crustaceans, lobsters are similar to crabs in their behavior, with strong pincers and a tendency to dig burrows. They typically inhabit areas near the shoreline, where they can hide from light. Lobsters are photophobic, meaning they avoid bright light. When it's dark or dim, they come out of their shelters, but when exposed to strong light, they retreat into the water or seek shelter in their burrows. To prevent escape, a 50-cm-high anti-escape net can be installed around the pond. Additionally, by simulating their natural habitat, we can add 10–15% aquatic and hiding plants along the shallow edges of the pond. This not only provides a comfortable living space for the lobsters but also reduces aggression and cannibalism among them. Water quality plays a crucial role in lobster farming. Poor water conditions can lead to disease outbreaks and poor growth rates. Maintaining a pH level between 7.5 and 8.5, with a water clarity of 30–40 cm, is essential. Regular water changes and the application of lime solution help keep the environment clean and balanced. These measures are vital for preventing diseases and ensuring successful molting. Proper feeding is another critical aspect of lobster cultivation. Lobsters tend to fight and even kill each other when food is scarce. Therefore, it’s important to provide enough feed to meet their nutritional needs. Their diet includes both plant-based and animal-based materials. Vegetables like wheat, aquatic grass, and rapeseed cake, as well as animal by-products such as fish scraps, meat, and livestock organs, make up a balanced diet. Feeding schedules, quantities, and methods should be adjusted based on the lobsters’ natural feeding patterns and the density of the population in the pond. Improper feeding can increase costs and reduce overall efficiency. Finally, scientific harvesting techniques are essential for maximizing yield and profit. Under ideal temperature and feeding conditions, juvenile lobsters can reach market size within 60–90 days. Seedlings are usually released in March, and harvesting begins in June. By catching and rotating lobsters in different sizes, farmers can improve catch rates, sell at better prices, and achieve higher productivity. This method ensures that the lobsters are harvested at the right time, leading to better economic returns.
