Common species of earthworm farming methods

First, the normal temperature culture method

Under normal room temperature conditions, this method mimics the natural environment to raise earthworms. As the seasons change, earthworms go through cycles of recovery, growth, reproduction, and hibernation. This technique is simple, cost-effective, and requires minimal infrastructure—no need for greenhouses or heating systems. When temperatures drop below 10°C, earthworms enter hibernation. To protect them from cold winds, straw curtains should be used inside the farm. During winter, it's important to ventilate the area once every two weeks and spray water around the beds to keep the substrate moist, ensuring a suitable environment for the worms. Ventilation and watering should be done during midday, for about two hours each time.

As spring approaches, the earthworms gradually become active. When the temperature reaches 20°C, most of them start feeding again. However, their activity and digestion are still weak at this stage, so feed should be given in small amounts. As the temperature continues to rise, the amount of food can be increased gradually to prevent overfeeding and bloating. It’s also crucial to avoid sudden cold snaps. Once the temperature reaches around 25°C, earthworms become more active, eat more, and grow rapidly. At this point, sufficient feed and daily moisture should be provided to support their development. This is also the peak growing season, when many earthworms reproduce and hatch. Therefore, both feed and moisture levels must be increased accordingly.

In autumn, as temperatures begin to drop, the young earthworms that hatched during the year have grown to about 5–7 cm in length. Due to their rapid growth, they may not have accumulated enough fat. To ensure they survive the winter, they should be fed high-protein and high-fat foods such as meat, eggs, and tofu to store energy and fat.

Second, the warming culture method

The warming culture method, also known as non-hibernation breeding, involves manually controlling the temperature to keep earthworms active all year round. The key equipment needed is a greenhouse that can be heated, insulated, and properly ventilated. These structures can either be newly built or converted from existing buildings or plastic sheds. Regardless of the type, the greenhouse must meet four basic criteria: it should be economical, well-insulated, provide good ventilation, and be structurally sound for easy management.

Compared to the normal temperature method, the warming culture method follows similar daily routines but requires more attention in three areas: maintaining a stable temperature between 20°C and 36°C, ensuring proper moisture levels due to faster evaporation, and regularly removing leftover feed to prevent spoilage caused by poor ventilation.

Third, the cross-breeding method

The cross-breeding method combines the warming and normal temperature techniques to maximize production within limited space. In spring, when outdoor temperatures exceed 20°C, small earthworms (about 5 cm long) from the warm room can be moved to the normal temperature pools. This allows the warm rooms to be used for new batches, while the smaller ones grow in the normal temperature environment. After four months, they can reach over 12 cm in length and be sold. If there is a shortage of warm housing, some can be moved back to the normal temperature pools for further cultivation. This cycle helps expand production scale and increase economic returns.

This method is particularly beneficial for small family farms, offering flexibility and efficiency in managing earthworm populations throughout the year.

Mobile video monitoring and alarm system is a set of intelligent system for security to enter the civilian field. This system integrates mobile phone monitoring and mobile phone anti-theft alarm systems. When illegal people break into the restricted area, the system host will immediately call and send SMS or email to the designated users! Users can view the image of the monitoring area with their mobile phones or computers as soon as they receive a phone message.

It eliminates the worries of false alarm of traditional monitoring system and traditional alarm system! The system integrates wireless door magnetic, wireless smoke detector and other wireless alarm accessory information, effectively improving the civilian characteristics of the monitoring system. Shenzhen Kate Technology Co., Ltd. is specialized in mobile video monitoring products. The supporting mobile phone software of this product, namely Kate Guardian, can be linked to mobile text messages or phone calls with video monitoring and home alarm. This product is also a smart home security monitoring anti-theft system: the system is a network but can be completed independently without a computer! The local memory can record video for 24 hours, and you can view and operate all the monitoring images in your home through your Internet phone or computer in other places.

The system has its own wireless alarm module, which can be matched with wireless door magnets, probes, smoke detectors and other wireless alarm trigger devices. When someone breaks into the monitoring defense area, the system will automatically call, send SMS and email to the designated four mobile phone users, and will also generate audible and visual sirens locally. After receiving the alarm call and information, the remote user can view the monitoring picture through the Internet mobile phone or computer, control the camera rotation angle and focus, and deploy and remove the alarm system through the mobile phone, while starting the mobile phone video recording function and handling the alarm. Application prospect Home monitoring

After work or when going out, you can open your computer or mobile phone at any time to view the real-time image of your home, communicate with your family face to face, learn about your family, and take care of your family remotely; When the thief steals while no one is at home, the automatic signal can be sent to the community monitoring center in time, and the residents can be notified by mobile short message, email or telephone. All this can be easily achieved through the home video monitoring system. As early as 2004, the total output value of China's video surveillance industry application market had reached 15.1 billion yuan, an increase of nearly 23% compared with 12.3 billion yuan in 2003, and growing at an annual rate of about 20%. According to the survey of the analysis institution, with the accelerating pace of life, the demand for family users' sense of security is gradually increasing, and the requirements for family monitoring and security are also increasingly mature.

As the video monitoring system plays an important role in protecting security and preventing crime, the growth of personal users' demand for family security will certainly drive the development of residential monitoring system. The demand for video surveillance from ordinary consumer households is becoming an emerging market for video surveillance applications, and is expected to show significant growth in the next few years.
